IMPORT LICENSING
Amendments to the import licensing schedule, announced by the Customs Department, are as follows: Canned Fruits.—Licences granted for the importation of preserved peaches, pears and apricots from Australia may be used for the importation of canned fruit salad from the same source. Tobacco Pipes.—The existing allocation of tobacco pipes from the United Kingdom only has been increased to 100 per cent, of 1946. Builders’ Hardware. —Door closers, door springs, floor springs and spring hinges may be imported under builders' hardware licences. Such articles are liable to duty under tariff item 356 (1) (g). Aluminium Roofing Sheets.—Future licences for imports of aluminium roofing sheets will be granted only for types which comply with the New Zealand or British standard specification.
