WANAKA DOG TRIALS

YARDING CHAMPIONSHIP KUROW OWNER SUCCESSFUL Special to the Daily Times WANAKA, May 27. Sixty-one heading dogs' completed the Otago Championship Yarding event on Mount Iron, at Wanaka, today, and the seven leading dogs ran off for the title. The winner was D. Anderson s (Kurow) Help, who scored 82 points in the first run and 90 points in the run off, for a total of 172 points. This dog has been one of the most consistent dogs owned by Mr Anderson in his many years of participation in dog trials. D. Sutherland’s (Macrae s .Flat) Queen, who scored 94 and 68 points in the respective runs, for a total of 162, was runner-up. The next placings were: J. R. Anderson’s (Kuana) Scott, R. Aubrey’s (Omapama) Baldy, 81 —75 156; M. J. Greaney’s (Oamaru) Spec, 801 —74—154 J; A. Patterson’s (Herbert) Mack, m —71—151 i; D. Anderson’s Don, 84£ —65—149 J. The Huntaway events, in which 61 dogs competed, was almost concluded when heavy fog enveloped the course and the seven finalists could not complete the competition. Four dogs had run by this time, but the other three were, unable to operate, and so to abide by the rules it was decided to run the seven finalists to-morrow morning as soon as conditions permit. The seven Huntaway finalists are: J. A. C. MacKenzie’s (Tokarahi) Nan, M. Templeton’s (Makaroa) Jim, A. Templeton s (Makaroa) Chance, M. A. Mathesons (Middlemarch) Syd, J. Falconer’s (Lindis Pass) Jim, W. P. Terry’s (Henot) Meg, J. A. Nelson’s (Winton) Syd.
