A venturesome spaniel and her pup who made their way along a 12-inch stormwater drain in a Marlborough street and then found that they could not retrace their steps, presented workmen with a knotty problem. The nup eventually managed to turn inside the pipe and escape, but the mother found this course impossible. At one stage it appeared as if the drain would have to be dug up, but fi na Uy the dog found its way to an outlet several chains along the pipe.
