TWO MEN CHARGED
Two men who appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon on charges of theft, and one who appeared on a charge of receiving goods known to be dishonestly obtained, were remanded until Monday, and bail in each case was allowed at £SO, with one surety of £SO Mr J. D. Willis, S.M.. presided. John James Miller Andrews, aged 51, a factory employee, was charged with the theft of 219 cakes of toilet soap and three packets of soap powder, valued at £l7 2s 6d, between June 1, 1948, and May 7 of this year. The soap was the property of McLeod Bros., Ltd. Walter Richie Reggett, aged 34, a labourer, was charged with the theft of 127 cakes of soap valued at £4 15s 9d, also ‘he property of McLeod Bros., Ltd. Thomas Arren Riddle, an hotel barman, aged 38 was charged with receiving from Leslie John McCreath a quantity of soap knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. /
