ALL BLACKS WILL FIELD HEAVY PACK IN THE FIRST GAME

CAPE TOWN, May 26. The All Black scrum for the match against Western Province Universities next Tuesday will be among the heaviest ever fielded in an international match.
After its arrival in Cape Town yesterday, the team was weighed at Newlands Ground. The weights were: J. W. Goddard, 11.1; R. W. H. Scott. 13.0; E. G. Boggs, 13.5; I. J. Botting, 12.7; •P. Henderson, 12.8; W. A. Meates .12.12; R. R. Elvidge, 13.7; M. P. Goddard, 12.7; F. R. Allen, '12.6; N. W. Black, 11.6; K. E. Gudsell, 12.9; J. C. Kearney, 11.13; G W. Delamore, 11.6; W. J. M. Conrad, 13.4; L. T. Savage, 10.9; P. Johnstone. 13.13; N. H. Thornton, 14.9; L. A. Grant, 15.0; P. J. B. Crowley, 15.6: J. R. McNab, 15.0; L. R. Harvey, 15.10; H. F. Frazer, 16.6; M. J. McHugh, 16.0; C. Willocks, 15.10; E. H. Catley, 15.0; N. L. Wilson. 13.12; D. L. Christian, 15.1; R. A. Dalton, 16.5; J. G. Simpson, 13.1; K. L. Skinner, 15.5. Frazer, lock forward, has been added to the team announced for the first match. The average Weight of this pack will be 15.5. H. B. Heartland, noted South African Rugby -writer, says the team will be greatly benefited by the change from the heavy sandy ground at Hermanus to the much superior turfed Newlands Ground. “In spite of the solid training at Hermanus, I got the impression that many of the All Blacks were still on the sluggish side,” he writes. “The heavy sandy ground contributed to this, and training for speed on the firm Newlands Grou'nd in the next few days should make a big difference.”
