HEAVY FLOODING
TAKAKA RIVER OVERFLOWS PA NELSON, May 26. / Heavy flooding was experienced in Golden Bay this afternoon, and Takaka was isolated when, the Takaka River overflowed covering the main road to Collingwood -with six feet of water. The breaking of stopbanks east of the town made the State highway impassable to traffic from Motueka. Several families were evacuated when flood water; ran through the houses. Some loss of stock is feared.
