SHELTER SHED NEEDED
FORBURY TRAM ROUTE ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL The need for a shelter shed on the corner of Forbury crescent and Richardson street was stressed by Cr J. R. F. Braithwaite at the meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council last night. People waiting on the tramcars, he said —and large crowds boarded the trams at that particular stop—had no protection from the wind or rain, unless they waited some distance away. He added that the city corporation possessed several spare portable shelters, and on his proposal the meeting decided to ask the corporation to place one of them at the spot in question. The accumulation of water at the corner of Plunkett and Richardson streets was a nuisance and inconvenience to pedestrians, said the Mayor, Mr W. Rutherford, in introducing another matter, which needed to be remedied by the corporation. He emphasised that the corporation had difficulty in attending to all the requests made upon it but thought the matter was deserving of more than just passing attention. Advice was received from the Valuation Department that it intended revaluing the Borough and would en-. deavoiir to complete the work by March 31, 1950. Accounts amounting to £1402 14s 8d were passed for payment. Receipts were £234 9s 4d and the bank balance credit stood at £2725 15s 4d. The Otago Hospital Board wrote advising that the levy for the year ending March 31. 1950 was £3519 10s 2d, an increase of about £2O on the levy last year.
