Mrs H. L. Cook, of Highgate, has returned from Wanaka.

Mr and Mrs J. D. Charlton Edgar, of Auckland, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Carl V. Smith. Mrs M. J. Friedlander, of Te Awamutu, is visiting Dunedin. • Mrs Norman McKinley is spending the school holidays at Moeraki. Mrs L. M. Satterthwaite, Claremont street, left yesterday to, spend a holiday in Waimate. Madame Jeanne Biddulth. who has been staying Vith Mrs J. H. McPhee. Maori Hill has left for Nelson. In the Somerset Lounge last Tuesday a party was given for Miss R. Coburn, who is soon to be married. The hostesses were Mrs S. A. Abum, Mrs A. E. Aburn, and Mrs H. F. Aburn.

Mrs Arthur Barnett, jun., entertained Signor Franco Ghione and other members of the Italian Opera Company at a 5 o’clock party on Sunday. Mr Charles Baker will address the members of the Dunedin Travel Club at their meeting in the Savoy to-morrow morning when the hostesses will be Mrs E. F. D'Ath and Mrs Winston Brinsley.

Last Monday afternoon the staff of Campbell House gave a farewell tea to the retiring matron, Mrs F. H. Patterson. On behalf of those present Miss N. Longley handed a gift to Mrs Patterson and wished her a pleasant holiday in the North Island.

The annual meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Southland Girls' High School Old Girls’ Association was held in the Pioneer Women’s Hall. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mrs A. C. Rowe: vice-preSidents, Mrs Tonkin and Miss Mav Kirkpatrick: committee—Misses Edna Sutherland, Keen, Budd and Bissett; secretary, Miss Jennie Campbell.
