INJUNCTION TO BE SOUGHT
PREVENTION OF REGISTRATION NEW CARPENTERS’ UNION PA WELLINGTON. May 15. An application for an injunction to prevent the registration of the Auckland Carpenters and Joiners’ Machinist's’ Society as an industrial union will be heard in the Supreme Court at Wellington next Friday. The plaintiffs are J. R. French, D. M. Martin, and D. McEwen, organiser, assistant secretary, and secretary respectively of the deregistered Auckland branch of the Carpenters and Joiners’ Union. Mr F. H. Haigh, of Auckland, will appear for them. The defendant is the registrar of industrial unions, Mr. C. E. Smith, who will be represented by Mr T. P. Cleary, with him Mr R. Hardie Boys, both of Wellington. When the Minister of Labour, Mr McLagan, recently gave his consent to the registration of the new society he said no steps would be taken till the motion for an injunction had been heard.
