Improvement Predicted in Sugar Supply

PA AUCKLAND, May 11. “ We cannot agree that the sugar shortage will., become worse and we expect a considerable improvement before June,” said Mr J. P. Wildman. manager in New Zealand for the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Ltd. He was replying to the statement made on Monday by Mr R. M. Barker, secretary of the Auckland Master Grocers’ Association, that the sugar shortage, especially in the south, would not be overcome before next month. Mr Wildman added that owing to the recent public holidays the position had been difficult, but more deliveries would be made this week and a progressive improvement should follow. The capacity of the refinery would be further increased when current work on the new plant was completed.
