NEW LABORATORIES WILL AID DEVELOPMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES
Three new laboratories, fitted with ultra-modern equipment, are now in use at the School of Mines at the University of Otago. They arc designed first, to assist in the development of New Zealand /mineral resources; secondly, to promote research in the flotation of nonmetallic minerals; and thirdly, to train students in practical work. Previously, no facilities were available for either general practical training or post-graduate research in these fields.
The apparatus which has now been installed forms the only collection of its kind in the Dominion and will make possible new developments in the line of mineral dressing. The cost of the laboratories' has been largely met from a grant of £SOOO from the Mines Department.
