SALLY GAZELLE IN FORM SANDY RIDGE AGAIN Sandy Ridge and Sally Gazelle completed a treble for the meeting at Beaumont yesterday when they won the Molyneux Trot and Champion Hack Handicap respectively. In winning, Sandy Ridge broke the existing record of 2min 13 2-ssec by 2-ssec for one mile in saddle, established by Loyal Nelson m 1946. The Champion Hack Handicap rosu'ted in an exciting tussle over the last half furlong between Sally Gazelle, Cover Drive and Irish King. Cover Drive appeared to get through on the Inside, but the decision went to Sally Gazelle by a head, with a similar margin back to Irish King. Bonny Royal, capably handled by the Wingatui apprentice, C. O’Regan, won the two open races on the card, the Autumn Handicap and the Publicans’ Handicap. The racing was full of interest, and close finishes were the order of the day. Cricket Field Wins Easily Cricket Field led throughout the Apprentices’ Handicap and he won easily by four lengths from Governor, who finished on over the final furlong, with a length and a-half back to Mature. Erin's Smile and Haughty Lass missed the jump out and they were well out of the contest. Cricket Field led from Mature and Governor, with Right Through and Weldrest next. Right Through moved into second place at the half, but otherwise the order remained the same. Cricket Field won comfortably from Governor, who was followed by Mature, Weldrest and Right Through, who faded in the Lecturer : Finishes On Lecturer was always handily placed and he came away in the straight to win the Novice Handicap by three lengths from Vain Lady, who finished very fast wid' out. with Lady Hotspur third. Lady Hotspur, Ensemble and Lecturer got away well from Red Money, Centurion, Friar Phillip and Ruth’s Pal. Skip was badly left at the start. With half a mile to go Lady Hotspur had control from Red Money, on the outside, with Lecturer, Ensemble and Friar Phillip next. Vain Lad put in a fast run on the home turn and he was-up on the outside of Lady Hotspur. Lecturer and Friar Phillip into the straight. Lecturer carried on to win from Vain Lad. who was followed in by Lady Hotspur, Ensemble and Friar Phillip. Bradley Succeeds Bradley, Sierra Sue, Cuff Link, Lady Lewis and Roxdale all made mistakes at the start of the Dunkeld Trot Handicap. Diligent and Solandri were the first to show out from Happy Joe. Vauxhall Queen, Impossible, Shadova and Ima Grattan. The order Was -much the same until the far turn, where Shadova had control from Impossible, Solandri, Bradley, Vauxhall Queen, Happy Joe and Sierra Sue, who showed great speed. Bradley led into the straight and he won well from Ima Grattan and Lady Lewis, who was about 100 yards behind the leaders at one stage. They were followed by Vauxhall Queen, close up. Happy Joe. Reay Dillon and Diligent. Third Win On End Sally Gazelle made her record three wins on end when she won the Champion Hack Handicap in a “ blanket' finish from Cover Drive and Irish King. Asaf Jah and Irish King were left at the start and Grand Coulee led out from Gipsy Major. Milly Mandy, Irish King, and Cover Drive. Irish King put in a fast run moving out of the straight and he put a break on the field, with Grand Coulee next ahead of Gipsy Major. Sally Gazelle, who had moved up, and Cover Drive. . Irish King was first into, the straight from Sally Gazelle, Cover Drive, Gipsy Major and Asaf Jah In line. Cover Drive looked the winner a few yards from the post, but the decision went to Sally Gazelle by a head with a similar distance back to Irish King. Milly Mandy was fourth ahead of Tattoo. Comfortable Win Bonny Royal lost about four lengths when the four starters in the Autumn Handicap were sent away. Philip Laing streaked away in the lead from Money Bird, Compeer and Bonny Royal, and past the half he Was eight lengths clear of Bonny Royal and Money Bird with Compeer tailing off. Bonny Royal bridged the sap across the top and she joined the leader at the straight entrance, coming away to win easily from Philip Laing, who lasted long enough to beat Money Bird for third. Solid Effort Lady Hotspur put up a meritorious performance to win the Edie Memorial Handicap. With half a mile to go, she was last, about 15 lengths behind the leaders. Bonne Nuit took the lead going out of the straight, and she was followed by Silver Spray, Cricket Field, Milly Mandy and Royal Venture, with Lady Hotspur tailed off. The order was the same until the straight, where Tympani, Bonne Nuit and Silver Spray were in the lead from Cricket Field and Milly Mandy. Lady Hotspur wended her way through the field with a fine run, going on to win by two lengths from Milly Mandy, who finished fast, with Tympani holding off Gipsy Major for third. Cricket Field and Silver Spray were next. Bonny Royal Again

Bonny Royal completed a double for the day when she led throughout the Publicans’ Handicap, holding on to beat Sedgemere by a nose, with a head back to Lance Art. Compeer was slow away, but after two furlongs he had joined Bonny Royal in the lead. These two were followed by Siegform, Gold Lance, Sedgemere and Lance Art. The favourite, Bren Gun, was in the rear at this stage, and he did not improve his position. Bonny Royal was first into the straight from Compeer, Siegform. Gold Lance, Sedgemere and Lance Art. Bonny Royal. Sedgemere and Lance Art had a fine tussle over the last 100 yards, finishing in that order. They were well clear of Amorlad, Gold Lance, Siegform and Bren Gun. Sandy Ridge Wins Well After appearing to be out of the contest with half a mile to run, Sandy Ridge came right away in the Molyneux Trot to win going away from Jacquard and Plausible. Sandy Ridge was slow away, and many of the others, including Vraiment, Impossible, Shadova and Mary Ann, broke at the start. Leyte Hall led by three lengths from Jacquard at the end of two furlongs, with 10 lengths back to Maurice Grey, Vauxhall Queen, Ima Grattan, Diligent and Happy Joe, with Sandy Ridge eiving the leader about 84 yards. Sandy Ridge and Plausible made their runs across the top, and Sandy Ridge was first into the straight from Leyte Hall, Jacquard, Vauxhali Queen, Plausible and Ima Grattan in a bunch. Sandy Ridge soon settled the issue and won easing up. '
