BACON RASHERS AS BOOKMARKS

Rec. 11 p.rn. LONDON, Apl. 16. Naming “the enemies of books,” the borough librarian of Reading, Mr Stanley Horrocks, said he had known readers to use a kipper and a rasher of bacon as bookmarks. Mr Horrooks declared, however, that enemy No. 1 was the “ turner down” of leaves, and No. 2 was the person who scored passages with a pencil.
