GOOD PERFORMANCES CLUB’S FIRST MEETING Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, A pi.' 17. Tlie recently formed Maheno Amateur Athletic Club held its first sports meeting at tlie Maheno Domain yesterday under ideal conditions. J. W. Sutherland. Christchurch (previously of Oamaru), took the honours in the Senior 100, 220 and 440 Yards and Shot Putt, S. Dawson (Leith) being runner-up in both the 100 and 220 Yards events. Dawson was successful in winning the Broad Jump with 21ft lin. W. H. Nelson (Civil Service) made his first, appearance on the track for some time and won the mile in 4min 3!) l-ssec. He was beaten into second place in the Half-mile by C. Bower (Caversham), who was handicapped on 25 yards. N. Clemens (North Otago) was successful in winning both Senior and Junior High Jumps, the Senior Hop. Step and Jump, and Junior Long Jump titles. S. Hardman (Otago Ladies), although handicapped in the sprints, was still able to lead the field home in both the 75 and 100 Yard Races.
