FIELD OUTCLASSED BY GOLD SCRIPT LADY’S BRIDGE WINS OAKS PA AUCKLAND, Apl. 17. The first day of the Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting was held in perfect autumn weather at Ellerslie on Saturday. The track was easy after recent rain. The totalisator handled £231,260, f compared with £208.549 10s on the first day last year, an increase of £22,710 10s. Following the running of the Easter Handicap an inquiry was held into alleged interference by Sleepy Fox with Shirley Fox. No action was taken. I. Galvin, the rider of Lord Foxbridge in the Great Northern. Champagne Stakes, was questioned concerning the running about of the horse in the race. The cause was found to be a twisted plate. N. R. Bowden, rider of Hazsoult, and A. Morton, rider of Race Chum, in the Mangere Steeplechase, were taken to hospital with concussion and a fractured collarbone respectively after their mounts had fallen in the race.
