LABOUR IN CONTROL OF LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL

NZPA—Copyright. LONDON, Apl. 13. After their dead-heat with the Conservatives at the London County Council elections, Labour to-day again assumed control of the council when a man who had been defeated in the election was elected chairman after a stormy meeting. The new chairman is Mr J. W. Bowen, former general secretary of the Union of Post Office Workers. The Labour Party nominated him, and he was elected by 71 votes to 64 for Dame Barrie Lambert, the Conservative nominee.

Labour aldermanic votes gave the majority.
