DOCK STRIKE OVER
LONDON STEVEDORES RETURN TO WORK NZPA—Copyright Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Apl. 14. The London stevedores to-day voted to go back to work on Saturday, thus ending the five-day stoppage. They decided to give the three weeks’ notice of their intention to strike which the law requires. The decision will enable work to begin again on more than 80 ships in the Thames and London docks. There were still 11,550 men on strike on the docks when the decision was made.
Several thousand angry Transport and General Workers’ Union dockers, who voted yesterday to return on a day-work basis, claimed they were locked out when their employers offered piecework only.
