DOUBLE TAXATION
EARLY DISCUSSIONS WITH AUSTRALIA Rec. 10 p.m. CANBERRA, Apl. 15. The-Prime Minister, Mr Chifley. announced that the income tax commissioner, Mr P. S. McGovern, and two officials, are to go shortly to New Zealand to discuss the double taxation agreement. This is part of the negotiations between New Zealand and Australia to achieve stable trading The main difficulty as far as Australian authorities can see to achieving a double taxation agreement is that the taxation laws covering companies in New Zealand differ widely from the Australian legislation. Mr Chifley will discuss the outcome of Jhe conference with his officers when he returns from the United Kingdom.
