TEMPERATURES COLD The official weather forecast issued by the Government Meteorologist in Wellington is:— Situation.—A jdeep depression is moving eastwards to the south of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.—FreSh southwest winds. Some occasional showers south of Dunedin, elsewhere weather mainly fair, with only a few isolated showers. Temperatures cold. Weather in Dunedin.—Wintry weather was experienced in the city on Thursday, but yesterday the conditions were more pleasant. There was only 2hr 54min of sunshine on Thursday, and yesterday the total was 6hr 24min. ' Snow fell on Thursdav, and up to 9 a.m. 0.05 in of rain was recorded. In the next 24 hours a further 0.06 in fell. On Thursday the maximum temperature was sG.6deg. the minimum 42deg, and the grass minimum 31deg. The maximum temperature yesterday was 53.6 deg. the minimum 47.2 deg, and the grass minimum 23deg. There were 7deg of frost. On both days the wind was from the south-west. The barometer was showing a steep rise at midnight, when it read 29.50 in.
