Retirement of Beau Le Havre to Stud

Beau le Havre, winner of the 1947 New Zealand Cup, has been retired to the stud. He was one of the best two-year-olds of his season, but it was not until the following term that he developed Into a champion. He won seven races in succession, including the Great Northern Derby, Royal Stakes, Wellington Racing Club Gloaming Stakes, Trentham Stakes, Wanganui Cup and Awapuni Gold Cup. As a four-year-old he won the New Zea- 1 land Cup under the steadier of 9.4, the Churchill Stakes and was second to Spare Part in the Wellington Cup carrying 9.9.

For most of his career he was trained by J. G. Farrell, of Stratford, for Mr M. J Nash, jun. Mr Nash announced the horse's retirement when he arrived at Ellerslie, where he Was engaged in the Easter Handicap He has been scratched for all engagements at the meeting.
