NEW ZEALANDER’S POST

FILM FESTIVAL DIRECTOR DOMINION PRODUCTS WANTED By Harvey Blanks LONDON, Mar. 15. A 38-year-old New Zealander, Mr John D. Ralph, has been appointed by the British Film Institute to direct the film side of the great Festival of Britain in 1951. Mr Ralph was born in Gisborne and educated in Auckland and Edinburgh. Until his recent appointment, he was director of distribution for the National Film Board of Canada, and was responsible for developing the international distribution of Canadian films in Great Britain, France, the United States, New Zealand and other countries.

Part of the 1951 festival will include an international documentary film festival in Edinburgh, and Mr Ralph is particularly anxious to see the best New Zealand films represented on that occasion. He is taking up his new post immediately.
