RETURNING TO WORK
MORE carpenters in AUCKLAND INQUIRIES CONTINUING PA AUCKLAND, Mar. 30. More carpenters reported for work with Auckland contractors to-day. One leading firm had 40 per cent, of its former employees back, and others continued to receive inquiries from men who said they would be back on Monday. The national secretary of the New Zealand Carpenters’ Union, Mr R. Stanley, said to-day that the union could not recognise the organisation set up yesterday in opposition to the deregistered Auckland branch, because it did not speak for the majority of carpenters and joiners in the area.
