WOMEN’S CRICKET TEST HOME TEAM’S IMPROVED DISPLAY FA AUCKLAND, Mar. 29. The women’s test cricket match between England and New Zealand, which was concluded at Eden Park to-day, resulted in a win for England by 185 runs. England declared its second innings closed with the overnight score of 164 for seven wickets, leaving New Zealand 308 runs to make to win. New Zealand was dismissed a few minutes before the afternoon tea adjournment for 122, which was double the total it compiled in its first innings. Conditions were ideal, a strong sun tempered by a slight soutTlerly breeze. There was an attendance of about 400 during the morning. The GovemerGeneral, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., and Lady Freyberg were interested spectators. In spite of another bad start, when six wickets were down for 36, the New Zealand batswomen recovered reasonably well, this being mainly due to a seventhwicket partnership between U. Wickham and J. Lamason which yielded 37 runs. Altogether, the New Zealanders’ display was more encouraging than that in the first innings The bowling honours for England were taken by 'M. Duggan and M Hide, who finished with three wickets each The English fielding all round was auite good, and Morgan gave a neat display of wicket-keeping.
