CINNAMON BARS
Dunedin confectioners disagree with the statement that appeared in the Daily Times on Wednesday that postwar cinnamon bars selling at 4|d are only “slightly larger” than the prewar issue selling at |d. Representatives of the trade stated yesterday that the bar on sale to-day is much larger, and they gave figures to substantiate their argument. The pre-war bar weighed foz and cost |d; the postwar bar weighs 2oz and costs 4id. Moreover, they pointed out that the Price Tribunal had made investigations and had approved the price, which, confectioners claimed, proved that today’s charge was not exorbitant.
