THE WEATHER
OVERCAST WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS
The official weather forecast issued by the Government Meteorologist in Wellington is:—
Situation. —An anti-cyclone lies over the northern Tasman Sea. Pressures are very low to the south and south-west of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.—Fresh to strong but decreasing south-west winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and cool. . Scattered showers this morning south of Dunedin.' Weather in Dunedin.—The weather in Dunedin, improved yesterday, and there were shr 18min of bright sunshine. Conditions deteriorated at night, however, -when heavy rain fell. The temperatures ranged from 50 degrees (minimum) to 60.3 degrees (maximum). Variable winds were experienced throughout the day, but there was a south-westerly at night. No rain fell in the 24-hour pcsfiotLoiding at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. ‘"The barometer fell in the afternoon, but steadied later, the midnight reading being 29.50 inches.
