Ministerial The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, was engaged in departmental business in the Ministerial rooms yesterday. He expects to leave Dunedin for Wellington on Monday morning. Mr A. Goodwin, of Auckland, has been appointed adjudicator for the British Drama League festival to be held in Dunedin in July. Mr Harold Mattingly, a former president of the Royal Numismatic Society, London, accompanied by Mrs Mattingly is on a visit to Dunedin. They will leave for the Lakes district on Monday, and will then visit the North Island The Rev. H. J. Rybum has resigned from the Board of Governors of John McGlashan College. At a recent meeting of the board, the chairman, Mr A C Cameron, paid a tribute to Mr Ryburn s long service and his untiring interest in the welfare of the college. The following officers were elected at the annual conference of the Dominion Federation of School Committees’ Association. which concluded at Wanganui yesterday: President, Mr H. A Toneycliffe (Timaru); senior vicepresident, Major A. T Dow (Auckland); junior vice-president, Mr M Neal (Blenheim); Parliamentary Committee—Mrs L. A. Allen, Messrs J. Fyfe and W. J- Wilson.
