ARGENTINA AND CHILE ESTABLISH POSTS IN THE FALKLAND ISLANDS
NZPA —Reuter—Copyright LONDON, Mar. 23. In defiance of British protests. Argentina and Chile had established and occupied posts in the Falkland Islands and their dependencies, said the Under-secretary of State, Major C. P. Mayhew, in the House of Commons to-day. Argentina and Chile had more than once declined British offers to refer the question to the International Court at The Hague, said Major Mayhew. When a questioner complained of the British Government’s “ weak action ” in tolerating violation of British territory, Major Mayhew replied that the Government had shown a good example of restraint, and was going through the proper forms of international collaboration.
