TRIED IN ABSENTIA
HITLER'S FORMER DEPUTY Rec. 9 p.m. BERLIN, Mar. 24. The Denazification Appeal Court at Traunstein, near Munich, to-day tried Martin Bormann, Hitler’s former deputy, in absentia. The court classified Bormann as a major offender and sentenced him to imprisonment for 10 years in a labour camp. It also ordered that most of his property be confiscated. It has never been proven whether Bormann was killed during the battle for Berlin or whether he managed to escape to the Russian zone or is still in hiding.
