LUCKY ALEX PROSPECT IN ELLERSLIE HURDLES
Special to the Daily Times AUCKLAND. Mar. 24. There was still a cool breeze from the south-west to-day, but the weather is improving and conditions promise to be favourable for the Auckland Racing Club s March meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday. The course is in great order, and unless there is more rain the going should be perfect, although perhaps not quite as fast as in mid-summer. It is likely that the Percival Hack Handicap, the Ascot Handicap and the Suburban Handicap will each have to be run in two divisions. Provision has also been made for divisions in the Hauraki Handicap, but one scratching will be sufficient to reduce the field to the safety limit Horses who may find favour include:— 11.0: Percival Hack Handicap—First division: Vice-chancellor, Ututere, Sunshaft. Second division: Kon Tiki, Flying Jane, Lady's Bridge. 11.50: Orewa Hurdles. Observatory. Hunter’s Green, Red Glare. 12.35: Services’ Handicap.—Valley Boy. Conspiracy, Quick 1 March 120: Ascot Handicap.—First division: Stanfred, Mere Ana. Coronach’s Pnde. Second division: Nionyx, Gold Point, Gold Pal. 2.10: Empire Steeplechase.—Lucky Alex, Pomade, Merriful. 2.55: Suburban Hack Handicap.—First division: Speartact, Regal Gold, Prince.
