BLEAK PROSPECT

RETURN CRICKET MATCH WEATHER IN SOUTHLAND Special Correspondent INVERCARGILL, Mar. 24. Prospects for the Otago-Southlana return cricket match, scheduled to begin at the High School grounds tomorrow, are not bright. Unless there is a big improvement in the weather, there may Be little chance of any play on the first day. The match wicket at the High School grounds has not been worked on this week, and it is not prepared for a three-day match. On Monday it was under water, and, although it had dried out a little since then, the prospects of having it fit for play to-morrow morning, even if the weather clears, are not good. A strong drying wind this afternoon raised hopes, and if there is no more rain a start may be made to-morrow afternoon.
