dim. mm \ i£U' &e/y /wkfui email Production in the 1949-50 season depends very largely on the adequate feeding of stock during the coming winter. Start feeding out hay in the late autumn or early winter before grass growth STOPS. Early feeding of hay allows grass to be saved for feeding in late winter and early spring. When feeding chaff and concentrates, avoid waste from trampling by using troughs and racks. If racks are not available, feed hay and silage on dry ground, a forkful at a time at Wide intervals. On dairy farms root crops should be pulled and distributed sparsely on dry ground. Fed-off crops should be carefully rationed in breaks by allowing stock in for short intervals each day. Make sure that fences around hay and silage stacks are in good order.
