GOOD PERFORMANCE

ALL CLEAR’S WIN AT ROXBURGH INTERESTING TROTTING All Clear took the lead soon after the start in the Roxburgh Trotting Club Handicap, tlie principal .race at the Roxburgh Trotting Club's annual non-totalisator meeting yesterday, and he was not afterwards headed, having the race won a Jong way from home. The unlucky runner was Sierra Sue, who did not get a good run over the last half-mile. She made amends, however, in the Publicans’ Handicap, which she won by three lengths. The club enhanced its chance of obtaining a totalisator permit by the manner in which the meeting was conducted. The programme was run through without a hitch and all the races were started up to time. There was a good attendance, but not as large as last vear. and the racing was full of interest. The track was cutting up after heavy rain on Tuesday night, but it provided good going All of the drivers commented favourably on the track and meeting, and stated that they would continue to support the club The weather was fine but cool, and this no doubt affected the attendance. Jacquard Has Good Win

Jacquard was the leader throughout in the Teviot Trial Stakes, and he was not extended to win by a length from Winston Hall, with four lengths back to Scimitar. Biddy’s Pet stood on the mark when the field was despatched. Winston Hall, Jacquard and Lustrous Gold were first to show out, and through the straight' for the first time Lustrous Gold and Jacquard led from Winston Hall. Balahulish and Nanimo. Nanimo moved into third place with a mile to go, otherwise there was no change in the leading division. With three furlongs to go, Jacquard was still in the lead by a length from Winston Hall, Lustrous Gold and Scimitar, who had made a fast move from the baric of the field. The order was the same into the straight, Jacquard carrying on for an easy win from Winston Hall and Scimitar, with Lustrous Gold, Nanimo and Loyal Margaret next. Solid Performance Olympus, May Ring and Elverne were the smartest on the journey in the Ettrick Trot Handicap. Global Voyage, Unlimited and Loyal Baby all broke at the start and Glamour Girl stood on the mark. Kiatoa was handily placed throughout and he hung on well to defeat Harvard and Loyal Baby. After half a mile Olympus had taken over from Elverne, who broke badly, and Kiatoa with a gap back to Harvard and Loyal Baby. The field closed up approaching the half and Kiatoa led into the straight from Olympus and Harvard. Kiatoa finished well and beat Harvard by half a length with the same distance back to Loyal Baby who was followed by Olympus, May Ring and Pukatee. Sandy Ridge Easily Sandy Ridge went round the field in the Dasli Saddle Handicap and he came on to win with ease by three lengths from Diligent with four lengths back to Sure Cast. Diligent, Ottley's Pride and Dakota Bov were the first to show out, and with a round to go, Ottley's Pride had control from Diligent, who was closelv attended by Dakota Boy, Sure Cast, Sandy Ridge and Recast. Impossible made a fast move going out of the straight and he led until about the threefurlong post where Sandy Ridge moved up to take control. The latter led into the straight from Impossible, who had had enough. Diligent, Dakota Boy and Sure Cast. Sandy Ridge gave the others no chance and ne won easily from Diligent. Sure Cast, Impossible and Dalziell. Comfortable Win All Clear took the lead soon after the start of the Roxburgh Trotting Club Handicap and he was not troubled to win by a length from Quick Trick with two lengths back to Sierra Sue, who did not enjoy a good run in the straight. Kilkenny stood on the mark and took no part in the race, while Dillon’s Fortune tailed off early and was never within striking distance of the leaders. All Clear and Quick Trick led out at the start from Sierra Sue, Great Hall, Lorenes Hall and Lucky Fellow. Great Hall improved his

position with a little more than a mile to run and he followed All Clear and Quick Trick alone the back. With fiv, e furlongs to run, All Clear led from Quick Trick, Lucky Fellow, Great Hall and Sierra Sue. Lorenes Hall moved into third place turning for home, but he soon faded out. In a good finish, All Clear defeated Quick Trick, with Sierra Sue just shading Great Hall for third. Then followed Lorenes Hall and Lucky Fellow. From End to End Loyal Baby led from end to end in the Tradesmen’s Trotting Handicap to secure a neck victory from Kiatoa, who was rehandicapped to 60yds for his win earlier in the day. Unexpected, Gypsy Song, Global Voyage and Pukatee broke soon after the start and Loyal Baby, Harvard and Olympus led out from Lottie Dale, May Ring ana Kiatoa, who made a good beginning. With five furlongs to run Loyal Baby was still in control from Olympus, Harvard and Lottie Dale. Harvard and Pukatee both broke within the next furlong. Kiatoa moved up into second place approaching the three and he followed Loyal Baby into the straight with Olympus, Pukatee and May Ring handy. Loyal Baby lasted long enough to bent Kiatoa by a neck with two lengths back to May Ring, who was followed bv Pukatee and Glamour Girl. Easy Win For Biddy’s Pet Biddy’s Pet gave nothing else a chance in the Miller's Flat Handicap. She took the lead from barrier rise and had the race won a long way from home. Quite Fancy and Diligent failed to leave the mark correctly and Biddy's Pet, Lustrous Gold and Scimitar led out from Winston Hall, Counterpart, Sure Cast and Loyal Margaret. The order was unchanged until four furlongs from home, when Counterpart made a run round the field into second place. Biddy’s Pet and Counterpart led into the straight, and In a good race to the judge the former won by a neck with half a length back to Winston Hall, who finished on. Then came Scimitar, Lustrous Gold, Diligent and True Son. Sierra Sue Atones Sierra Sue had a comfortable win in the Publicans' Handicap, defeating Quick Trick by three lengths The two horses were fighting out the finish when, 60 yards from the post. Quick Trick broke and lost three lengths. Kilkenny and Logan Max broke at the start, the latter failing to settle down and being pulled up. Great Hall was the early leader from Quick Trick. Sierra Sue and Lucky

Fellow. With a round to so the order was the same except that Kilkenny had joined the back of the bunch. Great Hall had had enough with three furlongs to go and Quick Trick took the lead and was first into the straight from Sierra Sue, who had moved up fast over the last few furlongs. Quick Trick went with Sierra Sue and it looked as though the race would result in a close finish until the former broke just short of the post, Sierra Sue winning by three lengths with four lengths back to Lorenes Hall, who finished on over the final furlong. Lucky Fellow was a close fourth ahead of Great Hall, who tired badly. Results:— TEVIOT TRIAL STAKES, Of £33. Class 3.37. One mile and a-half Jacquard, Mr W. B.
