At 9.35 a.m. yesterday the Central Fire Brigade answered an automatic false alarm at the premises of Coulls, Sommerville and Wilkie, Ltd., in Vogel street. A fire at a house in Loyalty street was extinguished at 1.33 p.m., one room being damaged. A grass... fire behind the Children's Convalescent 'Home at Forbury Corner was attended to at 2.24 p.m., and at 4.56 p.m. the brigade answered a call to a haystack which had caught alight in Kaiko’rai Valley..
