A two-stage experimental rocket leaves the ground at a testing base in New Mexico and soars on its way to a record flight of 250 miles above the earth. A German V2 rocket was rebuilt and fired with a smaller rocket in its nose which separated from the other at approximately 20 miles up and continued to the peak of the flight.
