NEW SALARY SCALE
HOSPITAL BOARD STAFF TOO LATE AND INADEQUATE Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Mat 8. Hospital board and medical staff representatives appear almost unanimously of the opinion that the new salary schedule for hospital board staff is both too late and inadequate. A report that the rates contained in trie schedule are as much as 20 to 30 per cent, below those recommended by the Advisory Committee to the Government was made to the New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association, whose executive is now meeting in Wellington. It was stated to-day that the association was disappointed at the delay in the issue of the new salary schedule and disappointed at the schedule itself. The association said that the matter would be referred to each of the Dominion’s 42 hospital boards for their opinions on the adequacy or otherwise of -the scale. When their opinions had been assembled and considered, a statement would be issued to the press. Dr Fogg, secretary oi the Medical Superintendents’ Association said his association would consider the new scale at a meeting this week.
