TEMPORARY MARRIAGES FOR SURPLUS WOMEN PROPOSED IN GERMANY
NZPA—Reuter—Copyright ’ BERLIN, Feb. 1. Temporary marriages for Germany’s surplus women are proposed by the twice-married 52-year-old, childless Dr Dorothea Klaje, who is a teacher at a Schleswig-Holstein girls’ school. She says that, because of the shortage of men, 7,000,000 German women can never have husbands. She therefore proposes that women should be allowed to marry for a limited time, and be able to leave their husbands if the experiment fails In this way, Dr Klaje claims, almost every German woman would have a chance to marry once. They should be allowed to keep their maiden names, which would also be borne by their -children.
