The Customs returns for Oamaru for December and the quarter ending December 31 ,are (figures for corresponding period in 1947 being in parentheses):— Monthly Customs, £4920 (£5798); highways petrol tax at 6d per gallon, £2827 (£2998); sales tax. £5lB (£1151); marine revenue £lB (£18); miscellaneous, £1 (£1): totals, £8284 (£9966). Quarterly Customs, £15,058 (£16,470); highways petrol tax at 6d per gallon, £8565 (£8511); sales tax, £1430 (£2963); marine revenue. £6O (£51); miscellaneous, £7 (£3): — totals, £25,120 (£27,998).
