BELIEVED SHOT DOWN BY ISRAELI FIGHTER NZPA—Reuter—Copyright LONDON. Dec. 16. The Air Ministry has announced that it is believed that a Royal Air Force Mosquito of the Mediterranean and Middle East Command, which had been reported missing, was shot down by an Israeli fighter. The matter is being taken up with the United Nations Mediator. Dr Bunche. Reports suggest that the plane was shot down on November 20, while on a high-altitude training flight south of Tel-Aviv. It- is not stated whether there were any survivors. Reuter’s Tel-Aviv correspondent says an Israeli military spokesman stated that a Mosquito which was shot down over Israeli territory on November 20 might have been British. He said the plane crashed into the sea off Tel-Aviv, and there were no survivors. Onlysmall pieces of wreckage were recovever, and they bore no nationality markings.
