MR SEMPLE'S POLITICAL INTENTIONS

PA AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. “I notice in the press that there is some curiosity concerning whether I intend to retire from politics,” said the Minister of Works, Mr Semple, to an interviewer in Auckland to-day. “My answer is plain. So long as I enjoy the blessing of vigorous health, which I do to-day, and my constituents have confidence in me, it will be my pleasure to continue to serve the country as I have tried to do throughout my life.” Mr Semple added that he had been m Parliament for more than 20 years and had not been absent for one week during tnat time. In the last week of this year’s session he was obliged to stay away three or four days with influenza. Mr Semple is 75.
