AIR FORCE RECRUITS

FURTHER VACANCIES CREATED

ENGAGEMENTS TERMINATED

A fairly large number of members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force had completed their terms of engagement and their release had created additional vacancies, said the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, yesterday, when discussing the need for more recruits. From April l to December 15 of this year, said Mr Jones, a total of 526 recruits had been accepted, 418 of them for training in ground trades, 33 as navigators-wireless operators and as pilots, and 75 for the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. In addition to these 526 New Zealand enlistments, added Mr Jones, 145 skilled technicians had arrived from the United Kingdom in the same period, bringing the total enlistments up to 671 for the past eight months and a-half.
