LONDON WOOL SALES

Rec. 8 p.m. ' LONDON, Nov. 17. The first wool sales of the sixth series were held to-day, with offerings totalling 20,380 bales, of which 20,112 were sold. Tlte offerings included 10,086 bales from Australia .and 8388 from New Zealand. Competition, especially from France, was strongly maintained and the very moderate selection offered was virtually cleared at prices from 7J to 10 per cent, dearer than the closing prices of the Liverpool sales. Current quotations for wools of average condition, without deduction of any sort for freight or expenses, are:—Merinos: Ordinary, 60/64’s, 51d to 56d. Halfbreds: 56/58’s, 41d to 49d; 50/56’s, 34d to 38d. Crossbreds: 48/50’s, 24Ad to 27d; 46/48’s, 23d to 25Jd.
