Anderson’s Bay.—(l) Gus Lesnevich, the ex-light heavy-weight world’s boxing champion, was born at Cliffside, New Jersey. U.S.A., on February 22 1915. He is a Russian-American and stands sft 9in in height. He won the world’s championship on points in a 15-round contest against Tami Mauriello on August 26, 1941, and lost the title this year when he was beaten by the British challenger, Freddy Mills. (2) When Liebestraum won last year’s Derby he was 9-9 in the betting.
