The city gas engineer, Mr H. H. Horrocks, will attend the annual meeting of the Gas Institute of New Zealand at Hawera from February 2 to February 4 next.

Mr B. F. Waters, deputy-secretary of war pensions, has arirved in Dunedin with Mr Arthur Blenkinsop, Parliamentary Secretary to the British Ministry of Pensions. Mr Waters returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr H. D. Yates, of Wellington, traffic superintendent of the National Airways Corporation, has arrived in Dunedin. Reference was made at last evening’s meeting of the Otago Harbour Board to the deaths of Mr P. Neilson. a former member of Parliament, and Mr W. G. Thompson, a former engineer on the Otakau, members standing as a mark of respect. Mr Justice Tyndall, who was to have presided over a sitting of the Arbitration Court at Dunedin yesterday, was called to Gisborne after reaching Christchurch because of a bereavement in his family. The opening of the sitting was delayed until yesterday afternoon, Judge Dalglish, who was deputised to preside, arriving from Wellington. Twelve further nominations of honorary rangers for the city have been received by the Reserves Committee of the City Council. The nominees are Messrs R. A. Douglas, R. McG. Kitto, R. Stroud, J. C. Laing, R. J. Bunting, T. E. Mclnnes, D. A. Brown, G. S. Scoones, T. Cockburn, J. C. Stevenson. G. A. Hopkins. H. Watkins. The resignation of Mr E.
