WIDE RANGE

AUCTION OF BOOKS SATISFACTORY PRICES ' Satisfactory prices were obtained for the whole catalogue of the late Miss M. J. Dalrymple’s library, which was sold by auction yesterday. The attendance was small, but interested, and within two and a half hours the 300 lots had been bought. The books covered a wide variety of subjects, ranging from theology to books on nature. An option on the theological volumes, however, had been given ‘ previously to the Theological Hall, but the surplus met with a keen demand. Nimmo’s “Authors,” in eight volumes, brought a fair price, the bidding reaching £4. A “Complete Concordance of Shakespeare ” realised 355, and a volume on Tennyson’s works 22s 6d. , . „ Similar interest was shown in all the other sections, especially New Zealand literature, H. Guthrie Smith’s “ Sorrows and Joys of a New Zealand Naturalist” bringing 22s 6d.
