FOUR RECORDS BROKEN
TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS DAY Four records were broken and one equalled by girls of the King Edward Technical College at the school’s annual athletic sports day at the University Oval yesterday. W. Jenkins won the Girls’ Senior Championship and F. Davidson won the Junior event. The Boys.’ Championship events were not concluded yesterday, and will be-continued on Tuesday. . The day was devoted by the pupils to group sporting events in an attempt to permit the majority of the school to take part, rather than confine exercise to the expert athletes. Novelty events were also included in a programme which attracted over 1500 entries, and was completed In a day which was at times gusty and showery. The results were:— Girls Senior Championship.—High Jump: W. Jenkins 1, A. McGregor 2, J. Murray and M Alderton third (equal); height, 4ft lin. 100 Yards: A. McGregor and W Jenkins (equal) 1. S. Wentworth 3; time. 12 4-ssec (record). 75 Yards Skip: W. Jenkins 1, R. Marshall 2, A. McGregor 3 75 Yards: W. Jenkins 1. A. McGregor 2. R. Marshall 3; time, 9 2-ssec (record). Total Points.—W. Jenkins 12 points, 1: A. McGregor, 8 points, 2; R. Marshall, 3 points, 3. Junior Championship.—High Jump: S Corkran 1, A. McArthur 2, A. Crawford and P. Bain (equal) 3; height, 4ft. 100 Yards: B. Wright 1, F. Davidson 2, A. Saunders 3: time. 12 4-ssec (record). 75 Yards Skip: F. Davidson 1, A. Saunders and B. Wright (equal) 2; time, 9 4-ssec (record equalled). 75 Yards: F. Davidson 1. B. Wright 2, S. Todd 3; time. 9 4-ssec sec (record). Total Points. —F. Davidson, 8 points, 1; B. Wright, 7 points, 2; S. Corkran and A. Saunders (equal) with 3 points, 3. Boys Open Championship.
