N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent
Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 15. The British Cinematograph Exhibitors’ Association, which represents nearly 5000 cinemas in all parts of Britain, has agreed to request all distributors to withdraw from circulation any films with which the antiBritish American-Jewish propagandsit, Ben Hecht, is associated. Mr W. R. Fuller, general secretary of the associaton, said: “ Our members are disgusted with the way this
man is baiting Britain and the way he is drawing money from British cinemas.”
The ban will immediately affect thefilms “ Ride the Pink Horse,” in which Robert Montgomery is appearing, and “Kiss of Death,” starring Victor Mature, for both of which Hecht wrote the script. The Daily Mail, which.recently published a letter from Lord Vansittart protesting against Hecht being allowed to draw money from British cinemas, says that when its New York correspondent telephoned Hecht and informed him of the ban, Hecht said: “ Don’t bother me. I don’t care about the Daily Mail, Lord Vansittart, every picture house in Britain, or you.”
