OTAGO ANNUAL REGATTA
ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS
Tile annual meeting of the Otago Annual Regatta Committee was held in the Council Chambers, Port Chalmers, on Thursday night, Mr T. F. Mackie presiding over a good attendance. The phairman made reference to the illness of the commodore of the club, Mr A. Wiseman, who has completed 70 years as an active yachtsman. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman congratulated the members on the excellent job they had done in connection with the New Zealand championship regatta in February last. He hoped all would take a further interest during the coming season. __ ... The election of office-bearers resulted. Commodore, Mr G. A. Wiseman; vicecommodores —Messrs C. Butterfield, A. Grant, J. McElwee, H. Watson, G. Currie, P. Hunter, F. J. Harrison, J. Robertson, W. Hill, G. Hoskins, G. Taylor, L. Smith, and J. R. Smith; chairman, Mr T. F, Mackie; deputy chairman, Mr J. D. Salomon; secretary, Mr H. C. Stevens; auditors, Messrs E. Fairbairn and J. Matthews; executive—Messrs E. Fairbairn, F. Eggers, J. McElwee. F. Way. F. C. Smith. D. Wilson, A Innes. A. Crawford, S. Jack, R. Brown, G. Hoskins, and W. Smith. The date of the regatta was fixed for February 12, 1949, and all the_ patrons were re-elected. Mr Solomon presented the chairman with a framed address, expressing appreciation of Mr Mackie’s work over a long period. His counsel had been a real factor in the smooth running of regattas for many years, Mr Solomon added.
