CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR
ANNUAL MEETING OF OTAGO UNION The president, the Rev. C. L. Gosling, occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Otago Christian Endeavour Union, held in St. Stephen’s Church hall. There were 60 members present. Included in the business was the reading of a minute of appreciation to the late Rev. Thomas Miller, which had been prepared by Mr E. P. Wilkinson, a past president. A welcome was extended to the New Zealand president, the Rev. C. G H. Bycroft, of Wellington, who replied with a message of greeting. Mr Eric James, the senior superintendent, welcomed the Rev. C. L. Gosling to another term of office as president, after which the president announced the new committee to the meeting:—Vice-presi-dents—Messrs F. Arthur. I. MacMillan, A S Hancock, L. S. Allen, and the Revs. E' C Walsh and E. W. Batts; treasurer, Miss E. Wilson; convention secretary, Miss J. Doig; C.E.C. convener. Miss I. McKenzie; superintendents—senior, MrE. H James; junior, Mr J. H. Shilcock. Later, about 80 members met for the senior rally, which was presided over by Mr E. James. Mr N. F. Cocks, secretary in Australia and New Zealand for the London Missionary Society, was the visiting speaker, and in his address he emphasised that evangelism was the root of all Christian missionary enterprise.
