Meeting of Union It was decided at the weekly meeting of the North .Otago Rugby Union on Monday night, to send a letter of congratulation to the Waitaki Sub-union on winning the Laddie-Heath Shield last Saturday. Mr D. S. Loder was in the chair, and there were also present Messrs J. Benson. R. L. Brown, W. Budd, F. E. Arscott, A. R Low, J. Firman, W. Berry, J. Macmillan, and E. Strachan. The Duntroon Club advised that a team from Maniototo would be visiting Duntroon on August 21. The ’Kurow Club wrote withdrawing its team from the junior competition. Wright, Stephenson and Co. were granted the use of No. 2 ground on Saturday, September 4, at 10 a.m., to play a match against a team from its Timaru office. The secretary, Mr J. Corlett, reported that the question of a grant to teams touring the Seddon Shield districts nad been discussed at the New Zealand Council meeting, and a grant of £4OO had been made. The Junior and Sixth Grade competitions were declared closed, with Waitaki and St.. Kevin's A the respective winners. It was decided to commence the first round of the Junior Grade Ralph Cup competition on Saturday and to play a country primary schools representaitve v. Junior High School match at the Oval at 12.45 p.m. 1 The country team Is (abbreviations—Enfield E., Maheno M., Pukeuri P., Awamoko A., Ngapara N.):—Forwards: A. Emslie (E.), C. Perry (E.), J. Kennedy (N.), S Don (P.). Emergencies: Forwards, W. Smedlev (E.). L. Christianson (P.); backs, E. Siggleko (E ), R. Muldrew (M). Arrangements were made for the Southland Sub-union v. North Otago match on Wednesday, August 25. It was decided to commence the game at 3.15 p.m. to give employees and emnloyers an opportunity to arrange time off. It was decided to entertain the team at the pictures on Tuesday night and at a function in the Bungalow reception rooms on Wednesday night. '
