The Otago cricketer, Mr A. S. Mills, will leave by air this afternoon for Auckland, where he will join the flying staff of. National Airways. . . „ Mr J. A. Roy, M.P., a member of the Empire Parliamentary delegation to Britain, will leave on the first stage of his journey on Monday morning. The command of the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Hobsonvflle will be assumed on Tuesday by Wing Commander T. E. Gill, D. 5.0., of Wellington, a distinguished bomber pilot of the Second World War. He will succeed. Wing Commander H. B. Greenaway, who has been posted to command Wigram station at Christchurch. Mr W. H. Irving, accountant of the Bank of Australasia, Dunedin, has been advised of his promotion to the posl*tion of sub-inspector, with headquarters in Wellington. Mr Irving, who joined the bank in 1924, and has served in various parts of New Zealand, was transferred to Dunedin in 1945, but shortly afterwards was sent to the bank’s London office, returning to Dunedin last November. Mr Irving's new position will involve him in a considerable amount of travelling. A gathering of 70 farmers from Waihemo Taieri, Central, South and West Otago and Tuapeka bade farewell at a social function yelterday afternoon to Mr S. C. Sullivan, recently promoted after 24 years, as manager of the Dunedin branch of Wright, Stephenson and Co. Mr Jotyi Andrew, Otago provincial president of Federated Farmers and a Dominion vicepresident of the organisation, presided. A presentation to Mr Sullivan was made by Mr J. S. Hunt.
